Avani Avittam /Upakarma means “Beginning or Arambham” to begin the study of the Veda (Vedha Adhyayanam). It is an ancient and most important ritual performed by the Brahmin community. Avani is the Name of Tamil Month; Avittam is one of the 27 nakshatras or Stars.
The day is of great significance to Yajur Vedi, Rig Vedi & Sama Vedi Brahmins. On the next Day, Gayatri Japam should perform. This entire Ritual is called Aavani Avittam.
This auspicious day represents the day when Lord Narayana took avatar as Lord Hayagriva. Lord Hayagriva restored the Vedas to Brahama from Asuras and also is the God of Knowledge.

- 11th August 2022 Rigvedam Upakarma – Timing – 10:30 AM.
- 11th August 2022 Yajurvedam Upakarma – 1st Batch 7:30 AM, 2nd Batch 9:00 AM.
- 30th August 2022 Samavedam Upakarma – Timing – 8:00 AM.
